‘It takes courage to grow up and become who you really are’ – E.E. Cummings
As I pulled away from his hug, he said, “I just don’t know who I am anymore”. He was so low, so despondent… I felt my heart clench in fear of the possibility that there will be a day when he no longer lives.
Do any of us know who we really are?
We are child, parent, partner and friend, these labels are an interchangeable constant. But we are all evolving, and who we are now is very different to the person we were 10, 3 or 1 year ago. Who we now are differs from next week’s being.
Our life experiences, friendships, highs and lows, our learnings and teachings, provide the opportunity for self discovery and becoming.
What a fabulous opportunity life has gifted us….
To release perfection, forgive our pasts, to accept and embrace where we are now, and to anticipate the wondrous unknown that stretches out before us.
